Job description

Role: Java Developer

Location: Cheshire, England

Salary: Negotiable (Dependant on experience)

Ways of working: Full time in office (5 days per week)

What qualifications are we seeking?
  • Intellectual capability is just the beginning. Our success stems from our team's ability to work together effectively. We regularly program in pairs, brainstorm problems at a whiteboard, and collaborate with our in-house researchers to comprehend domain requirements.
  • You must thrive in an environment surrounded by other talented individuals. Recognizing that there are numerous perspectives to any problem, you should be willing to have your ideas challenged and work towards a consensus. We don't tolerate defensive individuals who behave like prima donnas. As a result, it's your emotional intelligence that will lead you to succeed, particularly since you're no longer the most intelligent person in the room.
  • In terms of technology, we don't obsess over proficiency in any particular stack because you'll be able to learn anything new quickly. Naturally, you should be well-versed in core Java. Other desirable abilities include a basic understanding of SQL, REST, and JavaScript. Prior knowledge of web security isn't required.
  • Our tooling includes IntelliJ IDEA, JUnit, Mockito, Git, Gradle, TeamCity, Docker, and a variety of AWS services. Prior experience with these tools is helpful but not required.
  • We hire people with a variety of experience levels, from those straight out of university to those with 20+ years of experience.

Why join us?
  • We enjoy having fun (why else would we name a product Burp?).
  • We are professional while maintaining a non-corporate atmosphere.
  • We promote a positive work-life balance. We work hard but maintain a normal workday. We don't tolerate stress.
  • We provide a healthy, high-tech work environment. All developers work on the most recent Macs, with dual monitors, sit-stand desks, and, if desired, walking treadmills.
  • We are a tight-knit team. We have regular team lunches, evening social events, and two incredible parties each year.

Benefits:
We firmly believe in compensating our employees based on their worth to us, not solely based on what we can get away with or what they could earn elsewhere. We provide excellent salaries above the standard market level, determined by your individual abilities and contributions.
In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer share options and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Share options.
  • 8% employer pension contribution.
  • Life assurance: 4x salary.
  • Income protection: full pay for the first six months of incapacity followed by 75% of salary plus a pension contribution.
  • Private medical insurance (Bupa).
  • Holidays: 25 days plus public holidays.
  • Working hours: Core hours are 9 am to 5 pm, with flexibility to begin any time between 8 am and 9:30 am.
